For domains we query the TLD registry whois and, for .com and .net, follow through to the registrar whois. For IP addresses we show the regional registry record (ARIN, RIPE, APNIC and others).
This is the time it takes to open a TCP connection to the selected port, so results can differ slightly from an ICMP ping. Private and reserved IP ranges are not checked. Limit: 30 lookups per minute per IP.
